Patients living with certain underlying chronic illnesses, such as cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure, and other diseases often experience a syndrome called cachexia, which can cause anorexia, unintentional weight loss, muscle wasting, loss of appetite, and/or fatigue.
