Amy Schulman, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and President and General Manager, Nutrition Business Unit, has been appointed by the Chief Judge of New York to a new task force on Commercial Litigation in the 21st century.
The appointment of Schulman, who is the only female General Counsel from the New York area on the task force, was announced last week during the State of the Judiciary speech by Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman.
Made up of 28 leaders from the legal and business communities, the new task force will seek to create a more hospitable environment for businesses in the state, and to set a new vision for how the New York State court system might better serve the needs of the business community and the state's economy.
"Amy's appointment to the Litigation Task Force is truly an honor for both her and for Pfizer," said Brad Lerman, Pfizer's Chief Counsel for Litigation. "Amy is widely recognized as an innovator and thought leader in the legal community and her work on this important Task Force will allow Pfizer to have a voice in reforming and restructuring New York State's commercial courts."
The Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court was created in 1995 to increase efficiency in case processing and improve the quality and consistency of judicial decision-making in commercial litigation, which, in turn, plays a role in attracting business to New York and keeping existing business in the state.
