On the April 24 episode of “The Doctors,” the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer discussed the differences between heartburn, acid reflux, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) – conditions that are often confused with each other – and some do’s and don’ts that can help those experiencing symptoms.
Freda explained that symptoms often associated with heartburn, such as sore throat, dry cough, and difficulty swallowing, might actually be signs of a more serious health issue. “Make sure that if you are experiencing these symptoms you elevate the entire upper part of your body … by elevating the head of your bed or by sleeping on a wedge.”
