This story is about a 64-year-old who made international headlines earlier this month after becoming the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage … 35 years after her first attempt.
The Get Old effort will help Pfizer achieve Imperative 3: Earn Greater Respect From Society. The goal is to inspire and activate people of all ages to reconsider what it means to get old and to change perceptions about aging at every stage of life.
This story is about Diana Nyad, who recently became the first person to swim the more than 100 miles from Havana, Cuba, to the southernmost point in the continental United States without the assistance of a protective shark cage. The achievement took 53 hours and was Nyad's fifth attempt, having first tried the swim in 1978.
“Never, ever give up,” Nyad said. “You're never too old to chase your dreams.”
