What is National Immunization Awareness Month? National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is observed each August to highlight the importance of vaccinations for people of all ages – not just children.
Why the observance? NIAM was established to encourage people of all ages to make sure they are up to date on the vaccines recommended for them.
How can I be involved? Talk to friends and family members about how vaccines are needed for people of all ages and encourage them to check with their healthcare professional to see what vaccinations they are due for. Encourage them to also check with their state or local health department to see if they have any resources or events to celebrate the month.
