Consumer Healthcare Products Top Pharmacists' Recommended List
Reprint from Pfizer World September 18, 2012
Most people rely on their pharmacist for answers about prescription medications. But with the sea of choices for over-the-counter (OTC) products, many also rely on the professional in the white coat to tell them the best thing to use to quiet their child’s cough, ease the pain of an aching back, or even what vitamins to take.
For the past 16 years, Pharmacy Times, a monthly journal providing practical information to pharmacists, has surveyed thousands of pharmacists to compile the top recommended products for its OTC Guide.
For the first time this year, U.S. News & World Report, in collaboration with Pharmacy Times, has published that list. Dubbed “Top Health Products,” this new project is aimed at getting that information into consumers’ hands so that they can make OTC product choices based on the opinions of the professionals.
Several Consumer Health Care products top the list in the following categories:
The magazine sees Top Health Products as a natural extension of its commitment to helping Americans make important health decisions. These are not product rankings based on sales figures or any other product information. Rather, the magazine editors culled through pharmacists' survey responses to find the brands most recommended in 149 OTC product categories.
“It is an honor for so many of our brands to have established such a reputation among pharmacists,” said Brian Groves, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, U.S. “These men and women are on the frontline with consumers every day and it’s gratifying to know they believe in our products. Congratulations to all of our colleagues who develop, manufacture and market these great products every day.”
