Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer appears on the "Dr. Phil" show to help sufferers of the disease deal with the symptoms as well as the social stigma.

Psoriasis is a chronic immune mediated inflammatory disorder that affects approximately 7 million Americans. On the Dr. Phil show, Freda and Dr. Phil talk to Seger, a woman whose co-workers believed her psoriasis was contagious.
"This is the perfect time to set the record straight. No, psoriasis is not contagious," said Freda on the July 15 episode of the syndicated talk show. "In fact, research suggests that in order to actually develop psoriasis, a person has to have a genetic predisposition and also exposure to a trigger. That trigger can be something like stress, an infection, an injury to the skin, or even certain medicines."
